Film: Mind Game (2004)

Mind Game is a Japanese animated film directed by Masaaki Yuasa (maybe best known for directing The Tatami Galaxy anime in 2010) and based on a manga (japanese comic) by Robin Nishi. If you've seen that series might give you an idea of what you find in this movie: mix existentialism, surrealism, psychedelia and humor with varied animation techniques like stop motion, retoscoping, 3D, traditional animation among others that might you can't imagine. It's a film that never stands still and has many stories at once that while at first glance can overwhelm, all ends in the most satisfactory way possible." If after seeing left with many questions about what the hell happened, don't worry I'll try to analyze certain scenes in a continuation of this post. I forget to emphasize that the music is produced by Shinichiro Watanabe, the man behind series like Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. Watanabe is known for giving great importance to music in their productions as if they were a character. And Yoko Kanno, an awesome multistrumentalist, songwriter, and faithful collaborator of Watanabe also is involved in the soundtrack. I can share the album if someone wants it.
